Recent events have reshaped how the general public things about data privacy – primarily by bringing it to the attention of more people. Both the Facebook and Equifax data breaches are examples of events that have cause a growing distrust with tech companies, and GDPR is one of the first large scale efforts to promote protection for the individual. However, it is still not enough. There is still a lack of protection for the general public, especially in the United States. That’s where Defend Data comes in, to not only raise awareness of the issue but also to promote lasting change to give more power to the public
